Relentlessly Cheerful Art
by TheSquirrel on Sep.15, 2010, under Eye Candy
These works are just amazing. It speaks to me on so many levels and gently caresses many of my beloved childhood memories (which Hollywood has recently been pooping on). The artist James Hance is just brilliant in my opinion. Enough about what I think though, I will let the art speak for itself.
Here are a few selections that I really found enjoyable:
The Meep

The Scream by Edvard Munch has always been one of my favorite painting. It is so easy for me to feel the emotion it expresses. Now Beaker is probably my favorite Muppet, and has always been my preferred of the pair over Dr. Bunsen. His single syllable vocabulary gives the perfect voice to Edvard Munch’s expressionist painting.
The Batman In Black

I am both a Johnny Cash fan and a Batman fan. These two together just seems so right to me!
Historic Star Wars

Not so long ago, in a galaxy….uhhhh…..right here, there was awesome art depicting some of the most timeless characters as they might have appeared at the turn of the 18th Century. Much like our Antique Japanese Star Wars art, these portraits by Greg Peltz are made of sheer win!
Behold! Luke and Leia…

Darth Vader, aka Daddy (oops, you didn’t know that?? My bad! hehehehee)

Antique Japanese Star Wars Art

If you have seen my bedroom, you will know that I am a lover of Japanese art. Artist Steve Bialik has taken several of the major characters of the Star Wars films and given them a ancient Japanese makeover. I have to say, I am loving these! I can’t decide with is my favorite. These could be printed on some mock Japanese scrolls and would make great wall art!
